How to Create Program Sustainability

As part of all the YES, Inc. programs the goal is for the school, community and/or city to take ownership of a program to help program sustainability.  This is why all the programs are customized to meet the unique needs of each individual community.  For example the City of Delano Traffic Safety CITY was designed to reflex the fields were the children parent work for familiarity.  But there were also traffic safety issues with the fields along the railroad tracks so we placed the field panels next to the railroad tracks. Or a major intersection of Baldwin Hills, CA were two major streets and a railroad crossed.

Or in Delano the Walking School Bus would not work because parents could not be volunteers.  The parents in Delano leave for the fields before students leave for school.  Middle school students walk their siblings to school so they were trained to walk all students in their block to walk them to elementary school before going to middle school: the Walking Ambassadors.
